Vettel wrong to move to Ferrari - Berger

Hindsight is always 20/20 as they say, but Gerhard Berger believes that Sebastian Vettel was wrong to switch from Red Bull to Ferrari at the end of 2015.

The move at the time was compared to Michael Schumacher's switch from Benetton to the Scuderia in 1996, but Berger underlines the very different context which prevailed back then.

"Michael had Benetton people in his luggage," Berger told Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell.

"Sebastian should have made the move to Ferrari only as Michael did, by taking key figures from Red Bull with him," the 57-year-old F1 veteran added.

Berger also doesn't see much improvement at the House of Maranello in the next 12 months, which could lead four-time world champion Vettel  to answer Mercedes' calling for 2018.

"I do not see that there will be much change in Ferrari for 2017. So in that case Vettel would have to make a decision."
