Pirelli names tyre compounds for first four races

Pirelli has named its tyre compound choices for the first four races of the 2015 Formula One season.

The new season starts with the Australian Grand Prix next weekend and Pirelli will supply the medium and soft compound tyres for the Albert Park circuit, with the tyre manufacturer admitting the supersoft is still an unknown compound.

Malaysia's high temperatures coupled with an abrasive track surface sees the hardest two compounds in Pirelli's range - the hard and medium - selected for the second race at Sepang.

This year's calendar sees the Chinese Grand Prix take place before Bahrain as back-to-back races, and both will again see the medium and soft tyre compounds selected. Bahrain is a circuit which is particularly tough on rear tyres, with Pirelli having worked on a stronger construction to ensure the rear tyres are less of a limiting factor this season.

The choices are the same as in 2014, with the medium tyre also having been suited to the majority of running which took place during the cooler pre-season testing conditions at the Circuit de Catalunya over the past two weeks.
