Carmen Jorda is scheduled to drive in the 2016 Renault Sport Trophy (RST) season opener held at Motorland Aragon this weekend.
The former Lotus F1 Team development driver has not raced competitively since she was replaced by 2010 Formula Two champion Dean Stoneman at Koiranen GP after the Monza round of the 2014 GP3 Series. Jorda’s promotion to Lotus raised many eyebrows at the time, with former male rivals quick to sneer at her credentials.
Now a Renault Sport brand ambassador, the Spanish driver will partner two-time 24 Hours of Dubai class winner Jordan Grogor in the #6 R.S. 01 of the V8 Racing team. The Dutch outfit secured a pair of wins during the inaugural RST campaign last year.
It appears that Jorda will compete in the Prestige (Am) category, while Grogor races in the Elite (Pro) class. Each RST weekend comprises three events: one Endurance event that features one driver change, and two sprint contests – one for each category.
A total of 28 drivers make up the Motorland entry list, which includes former Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 champion Kevin Korjus.
