Giovinazzi heading to Singapore with Haas

Antonio Giovinazzi has been handed an FP1 outing with Haas in compensation for being pulled from last Friday's morning session at Monza.

The young Italian Ferrari protégé was all set for his third FP1 of the year at the Italian Grand Prix when Haas scrapped the plan because of the bad weather.

Giovinazzi, who drove for Haas in Britain and Hungary, will take Kevin Magnussen's seat at Singapore before completing his seven-race FP1 schedule in Malaysia, Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.

"In a year that's already been filled with great opportunities, I'm proud to have another one with Haas F1 team," said Giovinazzi.

"Being the third driver with Scuderia Ferrari is obviously a great place to be, and getting seat time in these FP1 sessions with Haas F1 team will keep me sharp.

"I'll be able to take what I've learned in the simulator and apply it in actual race conditions.  I'm proud of the faith Ferrari and Haas have in me and gracious for the seat time Kevin and Romain are sharing with me."

The 23-year-old was drafted in by Sauber when the season kicked off in Australia to replace an injured Pascal Wehrlein.

While he acquitted himself well around Melbourne Park,  Giovinazzi's second outing with the Swiss outfit in China was marked by two heavy crashes.

He remains in contention however for a race seat next year at Sauber along with fellow Ferrari hopeful Charles Leclerc.
