Raikkonen nominated for a Laureus World Sport award

.

Kimi Raikkonen's gesture to a distraught young Ferrari fan at the Spanish GP has been nominated  for the 'Best Sporting Moment of the Year' at the Laureus World Sports Awards.

Six-year-old Thomas Danel was caught on camera crying his heart out just after his favourite driver had crashed out on the opening lap of the race.

Ferrari quickly dispatched a representative to the main grandstand however to bring the boy and his family to its hospitality unit in the paddock for a heart-warming meet and greet with Raikkonen.

The Finn brought comfort to his young impassioned fan by presenting Thomas with a signed cap, finding himself later on with his family at the foot of the podium for a memorable post-race celebration.

Fans have been asked to vote on their favourite sporting moment on the Laureus website.

Needless to say, Raikkonen and Thomas are currently front running all the other entries which include Franceso Totti's farewell to Roma and Barcelona's sensational Champions League comeback win against PSG.
