An amazing stat linked to Red Bull's win in Baku

Daniel Ricciardo's win for Red Bull Racing was a refreshing event, although a statistic behind the triumph sheds a different light on the team's performance this season.

Pundits were looking for Red Bull to throw a wrench into Mercedes works this season, but an under-performing chassis coupled with reliability issues has seen the Milton Keynes-based outfit fall short of everyone's expectations.

An aero upgrade package introduced in Barcelona lifted the RB13's performance considerably, putting both Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen in the hunt for an outright win.

The Honey Badger achieved just that in Baku, but NBC Sports commentator Will Buxton points out that despite its win, Red Bull has completed fewer race laps than any other team this season, including McLaren!

Red Bull Racing has done 685 race laps, while McLaren-Honda now totals 716 laps.

Obviously, the mechanical woes which have affected mainly Max Verstappen this season have abnormally depressed Red Bull's numbers.

Still, the fact remains that it was the least reliable team won in Baku yesterday!
