FIA President Jean Todt goes for a third term at the helm

Jean Todt has announced that he will stand for a third term as President of the FIA, motor sport's governing body.

The 71-year-old Frenchman, who succeeded Max Mosley in 2010, announced his election in a letter  to FIA Club presidents.

"Today I was proud to announce to all FIA Club Presidents my decision to run for a third presidential term at the FIA."

"I am deeply moved by the gracious and unwavering expressions of support I have received from our FIA family," wrote Todt.

"In view of this, together with Michelle, my son Nicolas, and my Leadership team, I have decided to seek a renewed mandate as President of the FIA.

"Over coming months, my team and I will lay out our detailed programme for the term ahead."
