Haas' trial of Carbone Industries' brake system on its VF-17 did not yield satisfactory results, deciding the US outfit to revert back to supplier Brembo.
In a bid to solve Romain Grosjean's chronic brake issues which were centered around a lack of consistency and which plagued the Frenchman last year, Haas sampled the product from Carbone Industrie at the Bahrain is-season test.
The system remained on the VF-17 for Friday's free practice but cooling issues and a request for more time to assess the product have decided the team to go back to Brembo for the remainder of the Russian GP race weekend.
Grosjean complained once again about brake problems yesterday, citing a lack of durability.
"We had some issues with the brake on the long run, with the brake pedal going [long] I think we can sort that out, we've got some ideas, but generally the car didn't perform at all.
"But Formula 1 is all about finding the last fine-tuning. We got better recently, we were very happy with Carbone Industrie in Bahrain, but here we're struggling a bit more. So we need to work on it."
