Updates need to guide Sauber in 2016 - Nasr

Felipe Nasr says Sauber's upgrade package at the Singapore Grand Prix will guide the team's development for next year's car.

Sauber attempted to bring a new front wing to the Bahrain Grand Prix this season but it failed to deliver the expected performance and the team's developments have been minimal since then. While there will be an upgraded Ferrari power unit available to Sauber at next weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, it will not introduce its own updates until Singapore.

With both Nasr and team-mate Marcus Ericsson already signed on to stay with the team in 2016, the Brazilian says the drivers can help guide the development direction for next year's car but need to verify the Singapore update first.

“We give valuable feedback on the areas that should be improved," Nasr said. "We have to keep doing the best we can to collect this information correctly, as the C35 will be based on that. I am pleased that Mark Smith has joined us as Technical Director. Already he has a good overview of the car.

"I think we are going in the right way, and I am confident we can fight for points more often next year. We have to make sure the updates we are bringing for the next races are working properly. This will be the first step to guide us into the right direction for 2016.”
