Nico Rosberg admits his Monaco Grand Prix victory was "probably the luckiest I have ever been in my career".

With Lewis Hamilton dominating, Rosberg had spend the majority of the race holding of Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari for second place. However, a late safety car period saw Mercedes miscalculate a gap and pit Hamilton, dropping him to third and handing Rosberg victory.

Having secured a hat-trick of wins in Monaco, Rosberg admits he feels bad for his team-mate but appreciates luck plays a big part in any success.

"It's mixed [feelings] and it is the way it is," Rosberg said. "Lewis did a great job and deserved to win and I'm very well aware of that and I feel for him also - it's a horrible way to lose a race.

"On the other side, a win is a win and I've learned in sport that luck and all these things is such a big factor, so I've learned to just take it. I feel very happy because winning Monaco is winning Monaco and it's awesome.

"I got lucky, probably the luckiest I have ever been in my career, but I'll take it."
