TORO ROSSO: PIPES AND TUBES EVERYWHERE

Under the engine cover of the STR13, the Honda V6 replaced the Renault engine, and the transmission has also been redesigned, to take advantage of the compactness of the Japanese block at the rear.

The cooling has been partly revised. On the STR13 as well as on its predecessor, each sidepod houses an intercooler for the compressor (at the bottom of the sidepod, red arrow), and a small air/water radiator (top, white arrow). The lateral radiator (yellow arrow) is also maintained, even though its shape has evolved.

On the other hand, the radiators placed on the central carbon duct (indicated above by a blue arrow) are entirely new. They recall an arrangement that had been seen at the beginning of the collaboration between Honda and McLaren. On the Toro Rosso and the 2015 MP4-30, the radiator is placed above the duct, and not below (unlike the Renault RS18).
