Tech F1i – Bahrain GP analysis

A PRANCING HORSE WITH A REVISED FRONT WING

The number of Ferrari novelties seen in Bahrain hints at a higher pace of development. The new front wing features an extra dent in the main board which now splits into three areas instead of two previously (compare white arrows). Subdividing a front wing increases the angle of attack all the while maintaining the flow attached to the surface.

The footplate between the arches and end-plate has been made wider (yellow arrows): the vortex-generating tunnel has moved to the right and towards the inside of the wing, while the arches are more pronounced à la Mercedes. Finally the upper flaps (blue arrows) have been redesigned.
