Tech F1i – Under the Singapore lights

Williams F1 FW40 Technical Development

MORE SOPHISTICATION AT WILLIAMS

Williams introduced two elements to complement the FW40’s sidepod vane, an arrangement that evoked the setup of the Mercedes W08. The British team has already drawn inspiration from the three-time reigning world champions in Austria where they had added profiled winglets on both sides of the cockpit.

The above technical review does not intend to be an exhaustive list of all the concepts introduced/spotted in Singapore. One could also note a revised floor for the Renault R.S.17, as well as fences on the car’s brake ducts. Elsewhere, the Haas front wing endplates featured extra winglets, etc.
