The 2018 F1 drivers' market: where do we stand?

SAUBER

Possible candidates: Marcus Ericsson, Charles Leclerc, Antonio Giovinazzi, Pascal Wehrlein

Sauber is the team which may see a full blown change, although Marcus Ericsson's close relationship with Longbow Finance, the Swiss outfit's owners, will likely prove beneficial to his short-term future. Hinwill's deal with Ferrari almost guarantees the presence of a Scuderia junior at Sauber next season. But will it be the amazing Charles Leclerc or Antonio Giovinazzi who perhaps damaged his credit with a pair of crashes when he subbed for Pascal Wehrlein in the first two races of 2017? As for Wehrlein, it may be the end of the F1 road for the Mercedes protégé, unless a seat miraculously becomes available at Force India. But many at the Silverstone-based outfit are not that fond of the German. Chances of racing in pink in 2018 - or in F1 for that matter - appear remote for Wehrlein.
