The last woman to attempt to qualify for a Grand Prix

For the third time in succession, Giovanna Amati failed to qualify for an F1 Grand Prix on this day in 1992.

The Italian racer could not get her Brabham up to speed in Brazil, ending up over 10 seconds from Nigel Mansell's pole position for Williams, and almost five seconds from her team mate Eric van de Poele!

It was the last time a female F1 driver entered a Grand Prix. Upon F1's return to Europe, Amati was replaced at Brabham by promising rookie Damon Hill.
