To be fair, there is some truth in the error, as Verstappen is half Belgian as his mother Sophie Kumpen - a very quick kart driver in her time - comes from a family in Limburg with deep involvement in motorsport (her brother Anthony will race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup this year).
