Alonso’s resounding first victory

Look back - Alonso's maiden win

Just like current McLaren-Honda team-mate Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso scored his maiden Formula One win at Budapest, during the 2003 Hungarian Grand Prix, though it took him far less attempts to do so (30 races for the Spaniard, 113 for the Briton). Starting from pole in his Renault, Alonso kept the lead at the first corner before vanishing into the distance thanks to his blistering pace. The 22-year-old went on to lap almost the entire field, including reigning world champion Michael Schumacher, to become at the time the youngest driver to ever win a Grand Prix.
